I'm gonna write a Code of Conduct of sorts when it comes to ouija boards and contacting spirits. I figure I've gotten some good results and would like to share some of the basics for anyone who has had little or no experience with these boards.
So here goes:
First of all: Setting Up
What you need is the following: Ouija Board, preferrably 2-3 people, a strong faith in something (Even if only in your own abilities)
It doesn't matter if you have a cardboard game of it, a printed out version, or a scribbled on piece of paper. There is nothing in the technical sense that makes an ouija board special. It's a device used to communicate through the use of A-Z, 1-0, Yes/No, and Goodbye.
A word of warning however before I go any further: No matter how much you protect yourself, if you contact a demon or something of that generally bad nature, it will prey on you when you're weakest, and it may possibly go after loved ones. That means significant other, children, family, etc...I'm not trying to scare anyone off with these possibilities, but it's just something to kinda keep in the back of your head.
Anways, continuing....
We all know the basic drill: Set on a flat surface, place hands LIGHTLY (Note: Barely touching) on the board, and go to town.
As far as rules I've put together, I believe these are the most crucial:
1. Do NOT antagonize the entity.
2. Just because you ask something and it gives an answer doesn't mean you need to believe them. You wouldn't take everything those spams emails say to heart as truth. Don't trust something that you can't see/hear/touch/smell and it probably knows more than you.
3. Do NOT ask when someone is going to die. (I've been there for a specific session involving this with a friend of mine. It is one of the saddest, most engraging situations you'll ever be in.
4. When you are done with the board, make sure you say goodbye and command whatever the entity is to depart.
5. If you do have to ask an entity to "do something" to show it's here, don't scream your head off when it does just that.
I don't want to talk much about protection because it's simply boils down to the person. Talismans and the likes don't mean anything if you don't believe in them. Same as a bible, if you don't believe the bible has any power behind it, you'll be wasting your time having it there.
All I can say if have some sort of protection that means something to you before you delve into this stuff. Even if that protection is your confidence in your own abilities to protect yourself.
Sometime when you talk to the board you'll get gibberish. This could be intentional on the spirit's part, or simply it doesn't speak english, or is uneducated.
We spoke to an illiterate man one time on our board. He was from the New York area in the late 1800's. We spoke to him and he explained how he had died, very misspelled....He had been stabbed in the gut.
I know you're probably tired of words of warning by now, but I feel this is important:
If anyone says they are a deceased family member, be very leery. They could be, but they could also be posing as this to get you to grant clearance to be in your home.
This goes the same for a 'child spirit'. Such a situation is explained if you Google "Haunted Annabelle Doll". That's one of the worst case scenarios though.

"Yesterday upon the stair
I met a man who wasn't there
He wasn't there again today
Oh, how I wish he'd go away
When I came home last night at three
The man was waiting there for me
But when I looked around the hall
I couldn't see him there at all!
Go away, go away, don't you come back anymore!
Go away, go away, and please don't slam the door
Last night I saw upon the stair
A little man who wasn't there
He wasn't there again today
Oh, how I wish he'd go away"
-Willian Hughes Mearns
A little poem I always enjoyed.
I ended up going to a psychic (Cheesy as it sounds), but she was the real deal. I told her some of the things that had been happening and she said that the spirit known as Frank was a very bad man. He was a man evil in life as in death, and was trying to become a demon entity. He gained more and more power the more we acknowledged him. She also said that he was attached to me because I looked like someone he knew in life, some girl he had controlled before. She tried her best to banish him, and even explained he talked to her.
When she said "He acts tough, but he's not a demon and doesn't have that power"....He replied to her and said "You'll see."
As she banished him was was pretty much enraged screaming that he wouldn't go, that he'd be back.
For a while, there was no sign of him being there.
But recently I've been hearing random knocks. On windows, on doors, a noise of something smacking the TV.
I'm pretty much ignoring these attempts of communication though. Acknowledging it gives it power.

I'll dedicate this post to that devilish being we called Frank.
By the time he had his deepest hold, we had our roommate Spencer living with us.
There was a very dark point that I lived through. You know that unnerving feeling of being watched you get after watching a scary movie late at night? Imagine that feeling being with you 24/7. That was Frank.
We had a game we played with him, we'd talk to him without the ouija board. We set out lit candles and directed him to play with them. (There was no source of air current in the apartment.)...The candles would jump and bob. Burn up to 6 inches long flames, all the way down to completely burning out.
He also started his own games, innocent at first.
Random knocks. The stereo would make an odd white noise sound, like when a cell phone is about to go off (When no cellphones were anywhere near by)....
But slowly it got a little more frightening.
Harder knockings. Electronics turning on and off.
The being-watched feeling increased. I remember one specific night when Dustin and Spencer were gone and i was in the kitchen cleaning. The sinister feeling became so great I had to hightail it out of that building over to a friends house.
Finally, we got some audio.
Spencer was awake one night in his room while Dustin and I were asleep. All of a sudden he hears laughing coming from the hallway. The sound of a man, deep laughing.
About one week later, Spencer was away, and a friend of mine, Sarah, was spending some time at our place. (Keep in mind, we didn't tell her about Spencer's experience) She slept in Spencer's room and awoke.
She heard the exact same laughter followed by a "SLAM" noise of something in the kitchen.
We performed another ouija session later the next night and things were pretty normal.
After however, Dustin was in the kitchen and Frank actually touched Dustin. He described the feeling of someone having their hand on his shoulder.
Sarah and I also sometime that week were sitting the living room. I was looking at my laptop, and she was fiddling on her ipod. Dustin was in another room, and Sarah briefly glanced through her peripheral vision and saw him standing against the wall, and looked back down. Dustin walked out of the other room and she kinda just looked at him for a second.
Sarah: Were you standing there a minute ago?
Dustin:.....No? Why?
Sarah: *looks around room* I guess that was Frank.
We saw more shadows as time went on.
I was having more nightmares, and things in general were crap.
We had more knockings, electronic disturbances, and our cat playing with/chasing random things around we couldn't see.
Frank also increasingly got more and more possessive of me. He hated Dustin and would target him. He also began to target Spencer.
Before Spencer moved in with us, he owned a pure white about 90% wolf. It's name was Fen (Short for Fenrir. In the Norse religion, Fenrir is the enormous wolf that is the child of Loki). It ended up dying of old age, which prompted Spencer to move in with us so he'd have someone.
Spencer was given a new framed picture of Fen by a friend. Overnight when the photo was brought to our house, the frame was chipped and worn looking. And across the glass, directly infront of Fen's face was a scratch mark INSIDE OF THE GLASS.
We brought this up to Frank on a ouija session, and he explained his disgust with Fen because his spirit was still around, protecting Spencer and the others of the house.
More to come....

This is a little side note about one of my friends houses down in Murray. They rented out of an old 2-story down there that had some weird shit go down there.
It doesn't help that one of the girls there is kinda into the dark ritual shit.
Anyways.
Random things would happen in the house. There were an ungodly amount of closets there. And you'd be sitting in a room, and one of them would randomly open. And it wasn't like they popped open either, if you'd close a door, and yanked on the handle, it wouldn't budge, so it wasn't the frames being wacky. Even if they locked them, and put stuff infront of the door, you'd walk into a room and it'd be cracked open.
In my time over there, doors opened infront of me around 10-15 times.
There was also an incident where about 8 people were in the room, and one of those small fans were sitting on top of the entertainment system. No one was near it, and made a mentioning of the creepy shit that happens there. All of a sudden the fan flies off and crashes about 3 feet away from the TV. No one tripped over a cord, it wasn't leaning on the edge to fall off. It was smacked off.
We also had a cemetery about 20 minutes outside of Murray. A paranormal team had investigated it, and we decided to go check it out. Apparently there was an apparition that would chase people.
Me, Dustin, and our friend Spencer all went the first time. Dustin and Spencer both being the "I'll intimidate it before it intimidates me"-personalities.
When we went, there was a general very, very BAD feeling going on, even miles outside of the cemetery. One of those feelings to where we had the windows to the car open, and had to roll them up.
And an ungodly amount of fog.
We drove through, and it was to where you drove on asphalt, to gravel, to dirt, to grass/no road at all (Driving between some really close trees), then back to gravel.
The overwhelming feeling was so bad, when we got home, I went into the bathroom and threw up.
The second time I went, it was with two friends from that house I talked about, a couple named Jamie and Mickey.
We drove through and the feeling was similar. We drove by a house outside of the cemetery about 1-2 miles. Outside the house was a tree. And you know those black cowboy-cutouts people have that lean against houses/porches/etc?
Imagine that leaning against the tree. But not a cutout. An actual shadow.
This place was FUCKED UP. And what was worse was the eerie quiet. We were on the countryside, next to a forest. All we could hear was the sound of our own breath and the crunching noises of the car driving on that backroad.
If you ever want to go see this place, it's called "Asbury Cemetery" in Kentucky.
I'll get back to the shadow experiences in my next post. <3

Now we're going to be getting to the good stuff.
When I was in college, Dustin and I came into the possession of a ouija board.
Least to say, we and our friends played with it. A lot.
Now, I know some people are skeptics with these things, but the people I did this with don't do the whole "moving-the-planchette" thing just to fuck with people.
So bear with me.
As we began to play with it, we got random spirits to talk to. Most were innocent enough, but then we began to ask about the thing that had been around me growing up, causing those shadows to move. They seemed to move with me when I went to college, so I figured it had something to do more with me than a specific place.
We had a simple test to figure out what things were. We'd ask them to classify themselves under four categories:
1- Good/Angelic
2- Evil/Demonic
3- Human
4- Other (Meaning anything ranging from shadow to something we can't understand)
...No matter what they said, we'd still be very leery and careful though.
Anyways, we began to talk to the thing following me. Apparently under the category of Other/Shadows, it was about 5 of them. One prominent one, and 4 kind 'lackeys'.
We tried getting rid of them, and all left except the strongest one.
He stayed around, and we talked to him almost every time we used the ouija board. He would fuck with us, lie to us, and was overall a scoundrel.
In a sense, he reminded me of "Frank the Bunny" from Donnie Darko.
We began to refer to him as "Frank". He showed disgust for us giving him that name, so we revelled in naming him that even more.
This is where I learned Rule #1 in the paranormal:
Don't antagonize a spirit.
Frank kinda made our apartment his home. It wasn't really that bad, there was a general creepy feeling in the house, but aside from that, not much happened.
One specific night we had some friends over however.
One was a friend of ours named Tim, and he brought over a friend of his nicknamed "Mophead". (He had dreads. I'm going to refer to him by this because I don't remember his real name, and this one is more amusing.)
Tim was talking to someone on the phone and Mophead was using the Ouija with me. Both were skeptics.
We were joking around and asked Frank, "Who is Tim talking to on the phone?"
It moved and spelled out "JB".
As soon as Tim got off the phone we asked him who it was, he said "John Brocker"
Mophead kinda looked amazed.
Later on in the night, he had a little game. I'd have my hands on the board, blindfolded, and he'd ask the board to spell out something about Mophead himself.
We set up everything, and the piece moved. I lifted up the blindfold, and Mophead was white as a ghost (No pun intended).
He refused to talk about it until later on when I asked him, away from Tim.
He admitted he was raped when he was a child, and the board spelled it out.
He left our apartment soon after.
More coming soon. <3 The plot thickens.

I think I'll start this blog off with some of the earliest memories I have of paranormal things happening to me.
As I was a kid, I have hazy memories when it comes to this stuff. But the most prominent one is when I was around 7 years old. It was the middle of the night, and for some reason my mom and me were sleeping on our pull-out sofa in the living room. Our dogs at the time were sleeping right next to me, on the ground. My mom was in bed next to me, and my dad was snoring away in his bedroom.
I woke up and couldn't go back to sleep. I listened to the noises of the house: Our dogs making dreaming noises, my mom's soft breathing, and my dad cutting logs.
All of a sudden, there was this noise in our hallway. At the time it was carpet with squeaky wood underneath. There was squeaking, the noise of someone walking down the hallway.
I couldn't believe what I was hearing. It sounded like someone was walking from one end of the hallway to the other, over and over.
I kept trying to think to myself, "There has to be a logical explanation to this....", but everyone was asleep.
I still don't know what it was to this day, but I know it was the sound of footsteps. It never happened again....that I know of.
When I was significantly older (around 14), I had some weird shit happen to me. I have told this to extremely few people.
One day I was alone at home, just me and the dogs. (In the few months previously, I had began to see some odd occurences in our house. Shadows in our living room would flicker a bit....things really just....off.)
I took a nap. And you know that stage where you're directly between awake and asleep? I was right there, and I had a little kinda-dream play out in my head...In the dream, there was a woman face down in the snow, and it was slowly zooming in on her. It got zoomed to her head/shoulders, when all of a sudden the head was jerked up, revealing the woman to be dead and her face literally missing, just one giant gash of blood.
I sat directly up in bed, completely awake at this point.
I had been reading up on orbs and taking photos of ghosts at this point, and was going around the house with my digital camera. I took some photos and wasn't getting anything. But I noticed something....Lexie, our black lab, was starting to act weird. Anyone who knew her knew she was the most happy-go-lucky dog that couldn't hurt a fly. This day however, she was searching around the house with a purpose. She walked around growling softly, with the hair up on the back of her neck. I followed her from place to place in the house.
Finally she came back to the living room and just looked at me.
I sat down, and she was still looking at me intently. I just stared back at her, before I realized.
She wasn't looking at me, she was looking directly behind me.
I grabbed my camera, flipped it around and took a picture of directly behind me. Then hit the button again for good measure.
When I looked at the photos I took, I about shat myself. (For lack of better words.)
In the first photo, there was a dark mass behind me. In the second photo, taken at the exact same angle/time, that mass was gone.
These random occurences of shadows continued, although rarely.
More to come soon. <3
